About Us

WHAT WE ARE
The Great Lakes UBL Baseball League (GLUBL) is a summer baseball league located right here in Michigan: Teams in the league are located in the following cities: Detroit, Saginaw, Midland, Mount Pleasant, Howell, and Manistee. Amateur players are from NAIA, NJCAA and NCAA-sanctioned colleges and universities. The league plays a competitive travel schedule that includes a league championship series. The GLUBL is a member of the NABF.
The Great Lakes UBL is a wood bat league. The purpose of the league is to: (a) Provide family friendly, affordable baseball entertainment in the communities where our teams are located; (b) Provide a summer baseball program for eligible players to give them experience using a wood bat in a competitive atmosphere;

TRAVEL
All teams must travel. How teams travel is up to each individual team. Some teams charter a bus, use vans or car pool. Players traveling to and from road games in their own vehicle is the norm. The use of alcohol or drugs at any time during road trips is forbidden—even if the players are of legal drinking age. Drinking and driving is against the law, don’t do it!

PLAYING SCHEDULE
The 2019 UBL schedule is comprised of  4 game weekend series starting end May and ending the second week of August.
UMPIRES
The UBL contracts with Assignors and Umpires for all league games. With few alterations, the UBL plays MLB American League rules.

ROSTERS
The UBL League roster is 40, but tournament rosters are limited to 25 players. No more than four players from any one Division One (D1) school (the school attended in the spring immediately preceding the UBL season) may play on the same UBL team. By NCAA regulation, no NCAA players may play on a team in the summer in which personnel from their school (baseball coaches or otherwise) are associated. This only applies to a player who has been enrolled in the spring term prior to the summer season, and must still have college eligibility

INSURANCE
The UBL does not carry secondary coverage accident and medical insurance. The player’s primary medical coverage comes from the family, and they must declare that coverage before becoming eligible to play in the Great Lakes UBL. The UBL does not pay deductibles from the player’s own policies. UBL teams may carry their own secondary insurance.
